sc ellis wrote about flooring their cage in linoleum for easy cleaning...
I found that an even easier method of keeping the linoleum bottoms on my
ferrets' cages clean was to lie a dishtowel or handtowel down under the
litter box and replace that every few days. It serves a double purpose of
something for the ferrets to wipe their butts on AND to trap food and litter
so the pieces don't fly out onto the floor.
This, of course, only works if you have ferrets that don't eat towels. of
course, mine crawl under the towel and bunch it up and spill water on it,
but hey, it's a towel. The litter box holds most of it down - I leave a
6-8" border of towel sticking out from the sides of the litter box that the
ferrets usually jump out on. Potpie, being the neat freak she is, doesn't
even muss her towel up.
