I totally agree with Ms. Murdock that we need a PAC. By hiring professional
lobbyists we ensure that our issues are presented by people who know how to
do it; there are fewer emotional and hotheaded individuals accidentally
making the wrong impression; the professionals completely sidestep the
infighting and personal politics that hinder existing ferret groups;
changing legislation in states and even federally would be the only purpose
of the PAC. Individual ferret groups could go on just as they are but focus
money on the PAC. These same existing ferret groups, or representatives
thereof; could determine what legislation should be pushed, then leave it to
professionals to push it. No new organization would need to be formed --
there would be no months or wrestling about what the new association would
be called or who would be in charge of it or what it would do. There would
just be a hired professional PAC that would work on laws. The only wrangling
would be about how the existing groups would financially support the PAC.

Involving Marshall's Farm, Imrab, and other corporations who have a
financial stake in the success of the pet ferret industry is brilliant and
logical. They may be much more likely to throw money at professional
lobbyists than separate ferret clubs or associations.
