Someone mentioned seeing a cartoon about a ferret named Zucchini and a boy
named Billy. I think this is based on a children's book called _Zucchini_
but I can't remember the author (I think the author was a woman, though). I
used to be a children's librarian and remember reading this book; it's
geared for about a fourth or fifth grader if I remember correctly. It was
probably published in the 1970s or 1980s and would be a great book to get
from the library (doubt it's in the stores) for a child that age who loves
ferrets.

There's another book for about the same grade level which features a few
kids (one's name is Oliver, I think) and their adventures. In one book they
take care of animals and there is a very energetic ferret involved. Oh, I
wish I could remember more about it.

And there's yet another book about a ferret from Louisiana (I think) who
travels across the country. Or perhaps, he travels across the country to
get to Louisiana. Then he makes friends with Bayou animals. How does he
get across the country? He rides his bicycle of course!

If anyone is interested in any details (like titles and authors that I can't
remember off hand), I can find out for you. I'll let you know.
