FYI from one of the people on my CA UPDATE list came this warning about the
AG Station in Needles:
 
Hi Jeanne!  I'm happy to see we've won the first hurdle.  I will definitely
write more letters!  I also wanted to mention that my husband and I recently
went to New Mexico for my sister's wedding.  On the way back when we went
thru the CA border check point, the patrolling officer mentioned he had been
finding ferrets hidden underneath the seats.  This seemingly random comment
made both of us very nervous, and luckily our ferrets had been left at home.
Anyway, I thought I'd mention it to you so I could get the warning out!
