Find a gooey treat that they like, such as Ferretone, Nutri-Cal, or peanut
butter.  Put the ferret belly-up on your lap, head towards you.  Draw a line
of treat on its lower tummy and point its nose at it.  Clip nails while the
ferret licks.  (I think we could cut off one of Rusty's feet while he's
lapping at his Ferretone, and he wouldn't lift his nose.)
