Thought I'd share some information that was passed around at the San Diego
Ferrets Anonymous meeting. We had an animal behavorialist at the meeting.
She was given a ferret that was a biter and asked if she could train her not
to bite. She had the ferret a week before the meeting. At the meeting she
picked the ferret up from the cage and guess what, no biting! The owner was
there and was telling everyone how this ferret had been a biter for 2 years.
It was quite impressive. Apparently she works with teaching and training
animals using what is natural behavior to them. She will be working with
ferrets in the Southern CA area, if anyone is interested in the information
send email to Pat Wright ([log in to unmask]) and he'll be able to pass the
name/phone number to you.
Also at the meeting was someone who air purifiers/ionizers. Pat said he had
tested one and was impressed with it. He said he couldn't even smell the
Christmas tree. So if you have a housemate that thinks ferrets smell, you
might look into this. We had 20-30 people crammed into a small room and the
ionizer definitely made the air much more clear.
Lost ferrets in CA - I run the lost/found registry for Ferrets Anonymous.
If you lose a ferret or find one please call me (619-440-8823) or email me.
If someone else calls in I can hopefully help send lost ferrets home. It is
also a good idea no matter where you live to know your local ferret club and
contact them immediately. It seems most ferrets are found nearby, and
usually walk into someones home or garage.
Happy Holidays to everyone and their fuzzies!
Chris
