ECE and SHOWS - SHOWS are potential sources for ECE. ECE is highly
contagious. One small infected particle can spread the virus. ECE may be
deadly if not treated aggressively and promptly. Some participants may not
be aware their ferrets had/have ECE.

Here are some precautions to take if you go to shows. I can't guarantee
they will keep you ECE free though.

1. Read over ECE FAQ and any other ECE info you have. Be prepared for the
   worst, just in case.
2. If you have ill or older ferrets at home you may want to reconsider
   going to a show.
3. Wear clothes, including shoes, that can all be washed after the show.
Take a change of clothes including socks and shoes to change into BEFORE
getting into your vehicle. Comb or brush your hair before changing
clothes. Place worn clothes and brush in sealed plastic bag. Wash
hands, arms, face and any other exposed skin.
4. Take a container of diluted bleach solution with you to walk through
   BEFORE getting into your vehicle.
5. When you get home, take shoes and socks off outside and scoot across the
floor on a towel directly to the bathroom. This works on carpet too.
Shower and wash every inch of your body including your hair as soon as
you get home. Clean under your finger nails also. Put on a fresh change
of clothes again. Put worn clothes in sealed plastic bag. Mop the floor
with bleach solution from where you enter the house to bathroom before
letting your ferrets have access to that area. If you have carpeting,
vacuum carpets. Take plastic bags of clothes directly to washer and wash
   immediately.
6. Watch your ferrets closely for ECE symptoms.

Hugs and best wishes to all. tle
