My husband and I are about to move out of the house we own and into a rental
residence. We aquired our three beautiful girls while we owned our house so
we don't have any experience with renting while ferret owning. How do you
approach potential land lords about ferrets? We don't want to have to hide
our babies since we like to go on walks with them etc. Are landlords
generally open to ferrets under small pets clauses or should we only look at
apartments that specify cats and dogs and hope for an open minded landlord?
Any advice as to how to approach this problem and have a successful outcome
is appreciated.
On a more specific note: We will be moving into the DC area (USA),
specifically my husband will be working at the NIH in Bethesda and I will be
working at the National Research Council in downtown DC. We were thinking
about living in between if it is feasible (although I think the safe
neighborhoods are waaayyy out of our price range) but we know that DC is a
FFZ. Does any one rent inside DC proper and would you recomend it? Also if
anyone can recomend an apartment complex in Bethesda near a metro line that
accepts ferrets we would really appreciate it if you could tell us about it
(although it needs to be pretty cheap)?
Please respond to the later questions privately as they probably don't
interest all non-DC FMLers.
TIA for all you help,
E.C.
