To everyone and all of you whom responded via e-mail and here re:
descenting.  Thanks for the info.  I'm glad to say I'm not planning to do
it!  Because this is a sensitive subject I don't have any problems with
those that did voluntarily or got pre-descented ferrets.  No flames
intended.
 
I give laxatone to the feline contigent, one of them geratric, for hairball
assistance.  Even though mine are indoors and not exposed to the elements,
they got quite a coat this winter.
 
My vet pointed out that laxatone being a laxative, it shouldn't be given to
my critters any less then a couple of hours before and a few hours after
meals because *it pushes the food through without time for proper digestion
to take place* Dr G.  was especially concerned with my geratric cat because
he really needs his nutrition as he has some health problems.
 
Hmm, I wonder if this applies to ferrets too, and might be something to
think about?
 
Do any of you brush your ferret's teeth on a regular basis?  I know we are
supposed to and supposedly it is easier if you start them as kits, but can
they be convinced that it is allowable?  I know I've tried to do my cats as
adults (as soon as i found out that I was spending 200.00 a pop for annual
dental care) and they just were not too coopertive.
 
As for those emotional stories about the losses of our little pals...
 
Well, it seems to be this is the perfect place to discuss it.  Online
communities exist to to celebrate the good and commiserate over the not so
good.  I hope if I ever have problems with my future ferrets (aprox 3
weeks!) even if I know the score from the vet, I can come here to share it
and know that others will understand and not think me kooky for loving my
critters so much.
 
As for Toys.... What are appropriate toys for 10 - 12 week and up kits?  Any
different from adults?
