Why don't you check this month's/last month's (can't remember which ...)
Reader's Digest? It has an article on greyhound tracks in the U.S., and the
greyhound rescue program. To partially answer your question, I believe that
part of the reason greyhound rescue has done so well is that the tracks are
legally required to financially sponsor a portion of the cost of the
program. I think the article also mentioned, though, that only a portion of
the greyhounds raced are actually placed into homes. I don't know what
happens to the rest of them. :-<
Also, for people looking for TF who can't find a local distributor: why
don't you try NEEPS? I haven't ordered from them myself, but I visited
