I talked to this really nice lady at 1-800-USA-PETS who is supposed to send
me insurance information. She did say only cats and dogs are covered
because "ferrets are not considered domesticated." I started to object but
she cut me off to say that she thought that policy should be changed too.
Anyway, she gave me several more 1-800 numbers of insurance companies that
MIGHT cover ferrets. I haven't had a chance to call them yet but I wanted
to post to ya'll first. I'm at work and find it much easier to type e-mail
sporadically and pretend I'm working than to call insurance companies and
run the risk of saying words like "ferret" and "vet bills" out loud. Here
are the numbers she gave me:

1-800-323-6234 -- she knows they cover birds and are supposed to start
covering reptiles soon so might be have ferrets on
                   the list.
1-800-526-1711 these other numbers supposedly
1-800-700-6263 deal with livestock but they're
1-800-232-2100 worth a try.

That's all for now. I'm going back to looking busy. :)

Anna
