Well, Friday went to the vet again this morning for her snortling/oinking
problem. It's the funniest noise - she sounds like a tiny little pig - but
it's bothersome because it's persistent. She sleeps a bit more than usual,
didnt really respond to antibiotics, but plays normal, poops normal, eats
normal, has a normal temp, clear eyes, ears, and nose.

However, she just runs around snortling. If you're holding her when she
sniffs, you can feel the vibrations in her rib cage made by the snortling.
Sounds kinda like slowly slurping the last bit of soda from a glass full of
ice, and if it's a paper cup and you hold it, that's what it feels like to
hold Friday when she's doing this.

Symptoms:
- intermittent by day, mostly
- breathing occasionally raspy
- sounds like it's in her nasal passages
- makes snortle noises when falling asleep, so i believe it's not just a
  new behavior sound :)
- seems to make her mildly upset, as drinking is slightly more difficult.

The vet had *no* clue. He took another fairly thorough exam (part of which
involved him letting her run around the exam table while he leaned close to
try and listen to her and she occasionally tried to lick his nose), and it
was obvious to both of us that not a darned other thing was wrong with
Friday. It's not, as far as we know, an upper respiratory infection.

Anyone else had this in their ferrets? Nothing changed in her symptoms
after a week's course of amoxi, so we're going to shrug and keep an eye on
her. Oh, and last night, Friday wouldn't take a treat - very out of
character. Of course she was all OVER food this morning, though.

See http://www.us.itd.umich.edu/~squirty/pics.html for pictures of this
amazing piglet-ferret. :)
