I have been weighing the consequences buying a ferret, and so far I have
come up with a negative conclusion.  I have read a couple of books, visited
lots of web pages, and talked to a few people.  On one hand, they have been
unanimously voted great pets, whether because they are friendly,
entertaining, playful, whatever.  On the other hand, they seem to have
tremendous health risks and complications, they are not legal in California,
and require lots of attention and care.
 
Are ferrets really worth all of the effort, and money you need to invest?
