Dear FMLers-

Many thanks to all of you who took time to send me your suggestions and
encouragement about the little gal ferret who has spent most of the last
year caged in a basement. There were so many responces I decided to thank
you all here instead of individually.

I picked up Little Jaws (a nickname till she does something cute to get a
permanent name) last Sunday. She is a sable, thin, early neuter, and she
dosen't just bite and hang on, she bites, lets go, and bites again. In
spite of my best technique she nailed my thumb and forefinger 4 times,
faster than you could say "YEEEEOUCH!" She was VERY happy to get out of her
cage and walk around the ferret room. She eats voraciously, so her thinness
and rough coat should pass quickly, and I am treating her ear mites. She
has now learned the joy of Linatone and of having a box to sleep in. She is
noticeably clamer when being held and her biting has lessened, though I have
been using a glove on the holding hand. She calms down quickly and lets me
stroke her with my bare hand, waiting for the Linatone bottle. She is very
alert and always wakes up and comes over to my side of her cage, even if I'm
doing my quietest "checking on the babies" inspection.

And now for the best news: last night after she had been sniffing around a
bit, she came over to me and did her joy dance to get me to play "chase the
dangling thingy" with her!! Success!! She still has a long way to go, but
now I'm sure she will make it.

Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted.
