Dear Kayla,

Please don't give up the idea of ever owning a ferret again. You are
obviously a wonderful, caring, loving ferret person. There are ferrets out
there who desperately need you! Just think of shelter and rescue ferrets
who have never known the care and compassion you can offer. Eight years was
a good long time that Odie brought joy and love to you. HE wouldn't want
you to go without another ferret. You could love another ferret in his
honor!

Reading the FML sometimes makes it seem that all ferrets are constantly ill
with adrenal disease, insulinoma, lymphsarcoma, and intestinal obstructions.
But that's because this is the place where people come with their problems.
Imagine going to an emergency vet's office and thinking, "Gee, all these
pets are so sick!" It doesn't mean that MOST ferrets are getting sick all
the time. (Does it, guys?) maybe we need some anecdotes about long-living,
healthy ferrets here ......

Yes, it's heartbreaking when they leave us. But it's better to have known
the dance than to never have danced at all. We love them while we can.
Then we remember them with joy. Believe me, I know how you feel and I
respect your grief. But I hope that one day you will change your mind.

Kat
