Lorali discussed making your ferrets into lap-ferrets:
>When they're a little sleepy, make a comfy spot on your lap with a towel or
>something. Curl your arms up to make a safe feeling cave for them. Then
>sit still for as long as they will stay there or until your arms cramp.
Heh. Or until they start to grow so fond of sleeping in your lap that if,
whenever you kneel down to do something, they seize the opportunity to climb
into the suddenly-appeared lap and take a snooze. THEN your legs, your
knees, your ankles, and your back cramp as you squat there, tolerating
ferret love. :)
I usually wear two layers in the winter - a tshirt and a sweater over it -
and this makes a perfect ferret sleeping bag (and also prevents the shock of
cold wet nose against unsuspecting skin :). Potpie now climbs into my
sweater to sleep whenever she's done playing. It's remarkably easy to
convince them that you're a sleep-object by grabbing them at the end of a
play session, popping them under the outer layer, and sort of wrapping it
under them and settling down yourself for a good read or tv show.
Guaranteed, most ferrets - when faced with a warm, snuggly, dark cave like
that, will drop off after a few minutes of squirming. Of course, once you
make your ferrets lap-ferrets, they're there to stay. It is now THEIR lap,
no matter what else you might be trying to accomplish.
