Hi,
I decided to stop by a pet store here in Huntsville to see if they had any
ferrets. I had gotten out of a doctor's appointment early and decided to
check out the store before the rush hour traffic hit. There were two
ferrets in the cage - one dark sable female and one albino male. I asked
the woman working there the price of the ferrets. She informed me that the
female was $165 and the male was $200. When I asked her why the difference
in price, she said that the male was called an 'albino' and that it's "very
rare". I tried to keep a straight face, but I ended up laughing and told
her that albinos are NOT rare. She said, "Well, that's what I've been
told", kind of nervously. I don't think she thought I knew anything about
ferrets! ;-)
I know that she was just a worker there...it's a small "Mom 'n Pop" type
place...and that she probably WAS told that albinos are rare, but can anyone
out there give me any ideas as how to politely "correct" this type of
information? There were a few other customers in the store and I didn't
want to put the woman on the spot. I left the store wishing I had said
more.
Also, thanks to all of you who have posted/emailed about Buster, my FAT
ferret. I think he weight is evening out. He's now at about 4 pounds 1.5
ounces.
Thanks,
