Maples Mustelides Master Major Merriment
Reported by Pandora Maples
Ferret News Network - Oregon
Well it came and went so quickly I don t quite know what to make of it. All
the hustle and bustle, and all the neat paper! Our humans went out and got
this tall green thing, a Christmas tree I think I heard them call it, put
all sorts of lights and balls all over it, then they wouldn't even let us
climb it, but I did a few times anyways when no one was looking! Then to
top it off they put all this paper covered stuff with ribbons under it! We
had to drag them away..... It's in our contract. Then our humans had the
nerve to take them back from behind our favorite stash place and put them
back where we liberated them from. Don't they understand that we just have
a better sense of order and placement than the average human does?
Pan, Nibbles, and I were just fine with each other until last week when SHE
arrived. I guess this means that the Maples clan is now 4.... er... 6 if
you count humans. Cleo seems to be nice enough, but she's getting on my
nerves trying to run the operation! Just 'cause SHE'S older, she thinks she
can run everything her way. Cleo is one of those ferrets who was
surrrendered as a biter to a local shelter, but the closest she comes to
biting is chewing the fabric off our little sheepskin bear!. I think she
just doesn't get enough fibre in her diet! The humans hung little red
booties (I think they were called stockings) on our cage and Cleo tried to
rip them off. Good thing they were tiewrapped.
Christmas Morning came and presents were distributed. To be honest we
didn't care about everyone else's presents. We wanted their boxes and
paper!!!!! Pan seemed to want the Kona coffee, but you know him... he'll
eat anything. Our present list was quite impressive: A twine mouse rattle,
a Squeek ball with sheepskin and Jeans fabric, a twine rattle ball, 2 clear
plastic balls that have moving things inside them (great for chasing), a few
other neat things I can t remember right now, and of course, treats and love
galore. We even started feeling a little guilty about not getting our
humans anything. ( it was our first Christmas, how were we supposed to know
that we should have gone shopping?) So we put our heads together and left
our own little presents behind. [2 piles in the living room corner and one
in the dining room] They were so suprised! That's it for now.......
