This is in response to Rebecca......I would go ahead and use a heavy metal
wire mesh and bolt it on to the back of your stove (someone already
suggested this). To protect your fuzzy from the sharp ends try applying
duct tape to each side of the screen.....Cut a piece of tape the length of a
side (or edge), position the side of the wire mesh to fit down the center of
the tape (not the short center the long center), now fold the tape down over
the screen. Put a couple of layers of duct tape on all four sides of the
wire mesh, this creates a nice padding (and it does work I have done this
before just make sure you can't feel the wire through the tape) and since
the tape will stick to itself through the holes in the mesh it is hard to
pull apart. I have also used this idea for creating lids for my frog tanks
and if done properly gives safety and also can be quite attractive (not that
you would see it behind your stove).
I would also like to make a comment regarding mailing lists. I have been on
several mailing lists (due to my large variety of pet friends). Most are
very unorganized and unfriendly. I have to say that the FML is the absolute
best that I have found. The subject line actually has a subject and the
people here are very helpful and don't seem to ignore anyone.
In response to the question of cat food being too high in protein. If you
compare labels most ferret foods are higher in protein than even the high
quality cat foods (this is good you want a high protein level for ferrets).
I myself use Iams kitten, min protein 34% min fat 22%.
I hope this isn't to long just wanted to add a little story. I purchased a
40 pound bag of Totally Ferret for my guys and gradually mixed it in with
their Iams. Well Kodiak picked his Iams out and wouldn't eat the Totally
Ferret (I didn't realize this at first). When I replaced his bowl with a
bowl of Totally Ferret I noticed him picking food out frantically and
carrying it away. He was taking the food out of his food dish and putting
it in his litter pan and he wasn't eating it!!! I was very surprised, I
know this is an excellent food that is why I purchased it but apparently he
has other ideas!! Well it will be there for him when he finally comes
around!
Thanks to everyone who has replied to my posts in the past,
Babar
