I just wanted to mention how sad I was that the girl who bought a buddy for
her ferret (Oliver?) took the baby back to the pet shop...We have a grand
total of 9 ferrets in our family and new babies just take time to introduce.
the females, in our experience, seem to be the most aggressive toward the
babies, but sometimes even they guys will drag the kits off. I guess the
best thing to do (or for us) is to cage the baby seperately for a while.
Take your time and supervise their interaction for a few weeks until the
baby can "hold its own" with the older ferret(s).

After a while, they will probably be okay, maybe even best buds, but I've
never seen an older ferret take to a newbie immediately. My mom bought a
new baby (Ziggy) and that's what we've had to do. Ziggy is the cutest
little marble ferret (black with a checkerboard on her stomach) and she's
more vocal and people oriented...but the guys take time to grow on her.
