I had a diagnosed-hypothyroid ferret years ago, a sweet little sprite named
Shasta. I had to cut up little yellow "Synthroid" pills and give them to
her in baby-food chicken. She went from being sleepy and bald to being
fully-furred and active--it was amazing.
I can't recall my vet's last name offhand--Dr. Bill somebody at a vet clinic
in Germantown, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis.
We later moved to Seattle, and Shasta ended up going blind and having
insulinomas--she had surgery, she had diazoxide, one day she couldn't walk...
but all that was much later. Her Memphis vet was terrific--he wrote a paper
about her, and had photos of her, and I sure wish I could remember his last
name so you could contact him! He had reddish hair and blue eyes and
glasses, I think. If I remember I will post it, okay?
