Volunteer for the Ferrets

Several recent posts have been about inaccurate information dispensed at
displays of ferrets - such as MsPea's local zoo.

I've been a zoo volunteer, and believe most zoos work with a number of
volunteers. Misinformation - such as that reported by MsPea does SO much
harm. Who ARE these people passing out dumb stuff about ferrets and where
are they coming from? The volunteer staff in many cases. Well - let's BE
the volunteer staff!

OK, not everyone will get the assignment of their choice at first - but
remember the old salesmans credo "get your foot in the door". Well now we
say "my e-mail address and fax number are on my card, or leave a message on
my voice mail", but you get the idea! Once we become part of the cadre of
volunteers, we will each be in a position to have our knowledge of ferrets
taken seriously.

How about if everyone adds this one to their New Year's Resolutions - "I
will contact organizations showing live animals or dispensing information,
and become a volunteer".

So, who's up for the challenge?

Georgia
