Hi!
 
This is my first time posting but I have been trying to read each day as
much as possible.  (I don't have as much time as I would like because I am a
teacher and keep very busy.)
 
I seem to see a number of posting regarding the fact that many people seem
to be pretty down on MF.  I am very concerned about this because all three
of my ferrets are from MF.  They also eat MF chow.
 
I live near Rochester, NY and I haven't had much luck finding private
breeders.  I also did not know that MF had a bad rep when I bought my
critters.
 
I'm feeling pretty sensitive about this issue.
 
It is really hard to find ferret supplies where I live that are not
affiliated with MF.  I was feeding Iams kitten food for a while but Sasha
(my red eyed white 2 1/2 yrs) lost a lot of weight when she had surgery for
an intestinal blockage.  Sasha really likes MF chow, as do Fizzigigg (1 1/2
yrs sable) and Thief (1 1/2 yrs sable).  Fizzi had Hepatitis a year ago and
I am concerned about keeping a good chow available for him.  (He had started
with a cold that went into a liver infection.)
 
Now, I know that MF is a large breeder and supplies labs with test animals.
I don't agree with that at all.
 
How will boycotting private ownership of MF ferrets keep them from animal
testing?  How will boycotting their production of private ferret food
encourage them to only to produce ferrets for private and not industrial
ownership?  What kind of testing are these poor little lab ferrets being
used for?
 
What should I worry about with my critters?  Additional health concerns?
