RE: The mixing of ferrets and iguanas

I would be very cautious mixing ferrets and an iguana. It wasn't mentioned
how large the iguana is but...iguanas can move VERY quickly if they get the
notion and a large iguana has such a large and powerful jaw, that it can
completely dismember a mouse in one bite. If an iguana were to grab any
part of a ferret, and the iguana had any size, the ferret could end up
missing something vital!

I own both, and my iguana is 6 feet. He is big and he has an attitude about
anything invading his territory, and that includes the dog, the cat, and the
ferrets. I use extreme caution in allowing contact between the two animals.
I don't worry about the dog or cat..they are afraid of the lizard and will
give ground to it, but the fuzzies just have to push the envelope..Garret
got whipped by the iguana's tail and he still will try and alligator
wrestle.

Keep the ferts and the lizard separate..why take a chance of injury, or
worse, loss, of either animal.

RE: Few contributions to the ferret fund in California.

Llona...could the lack of response be due to the massive flooding that has
been happening over the past 12 days? At last count, 34 counties (Out of
57) in the state have been declared disaster areas. I would imagine that
California's economy is in shambles right now. I know that ours here in
Northwestern Nevada has been completely destroyed by the New Year's Flood.
Every major city in our area was flooded by one of 3 rivers...14 miles of
hiway that economically links NWestern Nevada with Southern California is
gone...and won't be repaired until the end of summer.

Ferrets are important to us, but..the massive flooding in both our states
makes the ferret problem in California seem miniscule. Give it some time
and then hit everyone up again!
