Suzanne...
I don't know if you can find them in your area, but I have two things I use
to keep Jasmine and Bear warm in the winter. We live in central PA in the
mountains, so winter gets VERY cold. No snow yet! ;-)
I have a hammock and a sleep sack that is warm plaid flannel on one side and
I think sheepskin on the other(or something like that). They love the
hammock and when the heat goes out, I put the sleep sack in the hammock
(which has a sheepskin lined pocket) and they sleep in there(although
sometimes Bear has to hang his big butt out the end). I've put my hand in
to test the temp, and it gets like a furnace. They seem to like that.
You could check the camping sections of your locacl stores for those special
thermal blankets and things that you can stick in the microwave(foot warmers
and such). You can also run stuff through the dryer, too. Layering things
works well, too, like it does for us hooman beans. Dish towels actually
work best; mine always try to sleep in the clean ones.
Good luck and stay warm!
Hillary
