her sleeping area and then lays down besides them. I was watching a PBS
special on european mustelids recently and saw a little wild polecat female
do the exact same thing - except with her kits instead of socks, and while a
big old bear was coming. Some instincts die hard, I guess.. [...]34_4Sep199611:12:

Thanks for your reply. I have taken Milo to the vet and my vet just laughed
at him really hard and said "wow is he fat". There is nothing *wrong* with
Milo, except that he is massively obese. He is large all over, his paws are
huge and I cannot get my fingers [...]39_4Sep199608:24:

Given your description of Milo's "obesity," I would have him checked out for
an enlarged spleen. Chances are he has one. Normally an enlarged spleen is
no problem, as long as its borders are smooth and round and as long as the
ferret is healthy and active as normal. If your vet finds that the borders
are irregular, the spleen should be removed. If Milo is unhealthy and no
other problems can be found, the spleen should be removed. Finally, if the
spleen is so enlarged that it might rupture (according to your vet's
opinion), the spleen should [...]37_4Sep199612:54:

females more aggressive when they are young? I had males for almost three
years before I got my first female. We named her Kiwi because she was
small, fuzzy and bitter!! She would latch on to a finger and not let go for
anything. And God help you if you tried to catch her to put her back in the
cage! We bought a new baby girl about three weeks ago and I don't think she
ever sleeps! She constantly fights with the others and ends up in [...]35_4Sep199611:25:

I'm not much of a writer but I have been reading FML for almost a year now.
I wanted to share a story that occurred this past weekend. My fiance and I
went away for the weekend, leaving our two ferrets, Ferra and Mischief,
alone in their five story condominium. I am a very anal person, organized
and I have to-do lists coming out of my.... Anyways, we came home late
Monday night only to find out that I had forgotten to shut the bottom door
on the cage! (An item that is now on my
