Lin,
What did you say to Conan? When I got home, he was quiet and subdued. The
bed was almost made & the bathroom floor looked almost clean. I'm worried -
my copy of 'Licking Sober' was on the floor next to my couch & I DIDN'T PUT
IT THERE! I caught him looking at the computer with a pensive, far off
gleam in his beady red eyes. He's being so nice to me! He hasn't bitten
one ankle yet tonight!
The big thing is, he's only eaten a handful of raisins tonight. By now, he
would be snoring in the corner with purple strains on his fangs. Instead,
he's war-dancing in the stack of plastic grocery bags with the other ferrets.
Could it be (gasp) that he's decided to go straight? Is there a Raisin Rehab
that you know of? Does he need ferret treatment?
I know it's too soon to be so excited, but he's being so sweet and playful -
almost as if he'd had a transformative spiritual experience. I hope he talks
to me or someone soon. He's been so wonderful tonight, I'm not sure I could
handle a Raisin relapse.
Thanks for your help, Lin. I know if Conan could only give up raisins, life
in my menagerie would be so much sweeter and calmer. Just think - I could
go to Winn Dixie again without being ashamed of the the boxes of raisins I
carry out. You know how it is - you go to all the different grocery stores
in the neighborhood, but eventually they all know you. It's been hard, Lin,
very hard.
Thanks for your help.,
Paula Ann
