Hello there,
I am new to this internet thing and I guess either me or my kids signed us
up on FML. Imagine my suprise after hardly ever checking our mailbox,
finding a week and a half of FML digests. Well, I am still trying to read
them all but I quit on the August 28 issue to write a note to you.

We've had three ferrets (well, technically we still own them):
LAMI (former name was Rambo but he was too soft-hearted)
SID VICIOUS (like the punk rocker because of his tatooed ear and when we got
him he thought he was the meanest thing around)
and SNUGGLES (who was a stray and loved to be held and cuddled)

As I said Snuggles was a stray and I thought that maybe his previous owner
might be on the NET and could read this and know that he was alright. He
was found in Fresno, California at the Palm and Ashlan area where he made
himself at home in one of our friend's house who did not know how to care
for him and brought him to us. This happened around the middle of November
last year. (He is a dark brown sable who has the softest fur I have ever
encountered on a ferret.) Sadly two weeks after we got Snuggles the Fish
and Game came and raided our house and after a battle in court they agreed
to let me send all three ferrets to my dad in Lubbock, Texas. So if
Snuggles' owner is reading this, he is now a Texan. We all miss our ferrets
and when I got fired from my job the end of June we packed up and visited
our little critters in Texas. It was the hardest thing not just to hide
them in our luggage and take them back home but the Fish and Game Dept. has
two year period in which they can come and raid our house anytime they feel
like without a warrant and I am pretty sure that if they caught them again
they would put them to sleep. So obviously we can't be selfish at the
expense of our ferrets. I would like to address all the people that have
posting on the FML and are trying to get rid of their ferrets because they
don't seem to have enough time for them. I would give anything to have your
privledge and be able to have my ferrets without being a criminal, how about
if you try to make some time instead of thinking of your ferrets as an
inconvenience. I would love to be inconvenienced by mine right now.
Everytime we go out of state we go to pet stores just to play with Lami and
Sid's cousins. The pet stores are very understanding when we tell them that
we are from California. By the way if there is anybody in the Fresno area
that would not mind me coming over to play with their ferrets, please e-mail
me. I assure you that I am not connected to the Fish Fuzz as a matter of
fact I am still paying of my $1300.00 fine for my three little ones.

I would like to also thank Jeanne Carley and her dad for their efforts in
the legalization of the California Ferrets.
I hope this wasn't too long, Sorry.

Ilona Maggard

PS: Hugs and kisses to Lami, Sid and Snuggles in Texas.
