I just wanted to add my 0.02 to the list regarding rodents. I had never
heard of the association between ferrets and rodents until last June. I
went to Reno to meet my first ferret. The next day I struck up a
conversation with a lady at a casino and told her why I had come. Her
remark nearly floored me: "Aren't they some sort of mutated rat?" I tried to
give her the quickie version about how they are cousins to the weasel and
mink. For some reason that made it better. Then she said, "Wonder why
they're illegal in California..... ohhhhhh..... must be the fruit." Huh?
Guess word got out about the raisins :D

On another note, I found a vet from the STAR list and went to check him out.
I sort of sidled in and whispered to the receptionist, "Is the Doctor ferret
knowledgeable?" She took my business card and within an hour the vet called
me and answered my questions.

For those of you in the FFZ -- especially California, how do you know your
vet won't turn you in? Is it just a chance you take? Is it built in to
their version of the Hippocratic Oath? Has anyone ever had a vet turn them
in?

Thanks for letting me ramble.
Irinia
