To Lisa Munger :
Mo' Bob and I have had this running conversation on the FML about whether
ferrets were ever domesticated in ancient Egypt, and, based on his expertise
in fossil and bone records, he argues convincingly that they were NOT. I
studied ancient Egypt in graduate school, specifically Middle Kingdom and
New Kingdom hieroglyphics, and I can find no ideogram, picture, word, or
reference to anything like a ferret. This also bored everybody on the FML
to death ! And I thought it was SOOO interesting! Boo hoo! I really
wanted this rumor to be true. Since you state that ferrets were
domesticated 5,000 years ago in Egypt, could you please tell me how you
determined this? I would love it to be proven.
Thanks,
Kat
