Question for ferret psychologists:
I've had dogs, cats and ferrets, and at the risk of attracting the wrath of
the first two species mentioned, I believe ferts are by far the smartest.
BUT ... cats almost always use the litter box from tiny kittency and both
dogs and cats can *usually* find their way home should they wander off.  So,
why can't a fert -- who is unquestionably smarter -- do either?  I'm not
trying to be funny here; there must be some reason -- whether pack or
denning behavior, instinct, whatever -- that makes wandering ferts a bigger
risk for not returning to their point of departure than a cat or dog.  And
what psycho-genetic trait would make it so difficult to litterbox-train the
average fert?
 
Mo' Bob? David Doyle? The Killians? Trish? Dayna? Kelleen? PawPaw? All the
rest of FML's resident experts? Seriously, why do they "do what they do?"
