Foggy is definitely off the surgical level and into his physical therapy
stage...he had his first bath today and after a thorough drying he weighed
in at 1lb.  and 1110 oz.  (thats over 10 oz of wt gain since he had the
surgery and weighed in at just under a lb.  he is filling out and altho he
looks like a kit still he is showing signs that he may yet grow to a fair
sized ferret.  His fur is rapidly getting thicker and softer and his teeth
and gums are 100% better than when he arrived.  His ears are clear and his
eyes are sparkly and bright...this little fellow misses nothing.  He was
allowed to spend about 1/2 hour with another small female today (very
closely supervised) and she was very gentle with him and let him wrestle her
all over the place without rough housing back... He felt very macho and had
a wonderful time...all on the fleece blanket of course...tomorrow I will try
them together with the Krinkly Sack and see how it goes.  He seems to thrive
on new things and is hungry for play with the other fur kids, but some play
pretty rough and I will let him build up to the usual free for all that goes
on around here.  I had him outside for a nice sun bath in the late afternoon
and he sure had an appetite after that... all in all he is doing better than
I had any right to expect and other than getting wt.  on him and building up
his strength and stamina he seems to be in pretty fine shape...
 
The two burn cases are eating and drinking with some help and the burns are
closing and mostly surfaced... the wt.  loss has stopped and one has begun
to gain again..the others wu. is holding.  Both show no inclination to
'worry' the burns so only light burn special bandages are being used and the
burns are left open to the air as much as possible.  Thanks to the arrival
of ferretvita they both are getting that every day and some ferretone as
well which appears to be keeping their immune systems at as good state... so
far no problems with infection and antibiotics are being tapered off altho
the colloidal silver mist and internal dose remains the same.  With any luck
these two are on the mend...they won't ever be pretty ferret fur babies
again but they will be alive and able to play and enjoy life and I never saw
a ferret yet that gave a hoot what another ferret looked like so eventually
I think they will be playing right along with the rest of the recovery crew.
 
three patients went home with their companion humans last weekend and
hopefully 4 more will clear eval.  within a week or two...that will leave
Foggy and the two burn cases still in the constant care area and open up
places for fur kids in trouble out there somewhere.
 
And thats the latest...
 
to all who have sent aid...there are no words to thank you enough... it is
absolutely because of you these fur children are on the mend and will live
to have happy loving futures to look forward to.  Bless you all!
