I have a 13-month old female sable named Pepsee.  She's been a family member
for almost a year now, and we all get along with her very well (even our
dog, Petunia, who is usually very jealous), except for her favourite hobby.
Pepsee loves to dig, especially at carpets.  Whenever she gets bored, she
runs to the door of a forbidden room (parent's room, guest room, most
often), and begins to dig at the carpet beside it.  I was displeased to find
out how much damage the little weasel can do in thirty seconds... anyways, I
was wondering if anybody has any tips on how to help her cure this habit.
 
She's been digging almost as long as she's been here, and all of her other
habits which date from that time have been cured (nipping, pooping outside
the litterbox, running up pantlegs, etc.), except this one.  She gets cage
time when she digs, but that doesn't seem to help like it does for other
things (she just digs at her cage carpet... I don't mind if that gets
destroyed, but it breeds a bad habit).  She knows what "No digging!" means,
as she demonstrated to my mother many many months ago, but she seems to
enjoy being a brat.
 
Is there some training technique I can use?  I've heard that pet repellent
sprays can be really harmful to a ferret, and I'm not convinced they would
stop her anyways.  Do I just have to make sure that she never, ever gets
bored (like she doesn't already run my life, anyways)?  If so, would getting
another ferret help?
