Big, et al,
I don't know why I keep getting the itch to reply to Big's notes, but here
it is.
I just read a report on a cat with heinz body anemia due to the amount of
onion powder added to the Gerber baby food being used to tempt his appetite.
This was written as a warning in one of my vet med resources. Onions in
very small amounts can cause this problem in mammals, the smaller the
mammal, the less onion necessary. Also, stressed animals (post-surgical,
ill, etc) are more at risk.
Just my veterinary 0.02, now that I'm caught up on FML's again.
