Hi,

I talked to an officer at the Prince George's County Animal Control. She
said the county policy is to sacrifice the ferret in ANY bite case. The
county does not recognize the rabies vaccination for ferrets. She said that
even when the state law comes into effect, the county is NOT required to
follow it (the law allows a quarantine period). So, don't think that just
because your state has become more enlightened, that your county will. Your
town or city may even have a policy that conflicts with the county's or
state's. I'm glad I don't live in Prince George's County. Is there no
ferret-friendly place?
