I do not know who first posted the information, but I had to check it out.
I would not suggest anyone else let it go at that.  I'm only one person, and
now that I have my response it is quite possible the who matter has retired
to the 'circular file', the wastebasket.  I hope this is not the case.
 
Once I read this for myself, I was extreemly concerned that EB's faulty
references would be used as 'authority' on the subject of pet ferrets.  The
last thing I would ever want to hear in some sort of dispute is a faulty
reference from a supposedly 'authoritative' source.
 
Perhaps the matter is cleared.  Perhaps everything is fine.  But perhaps it
would keep things on the front burner if a few thousand folks 'independantly
stumbled' upon the ferret reference, and pointed out a correction should be
made.  I cringe at the thought that the 'ol EB would be taken as more an
authority on pet ferrets than DVM Susan Brown, or Pam Green, or egads
several thousand folks reading the FML.
