You say that the only time your ferrets are around other animals is when you
take them on the jogging trails and then "only a brief sniff by other dogs."
Ruben, that brief sniff by other dogs would be enough for your ferrets to
contract canine distemper if your ferrets are not vaccinated. I can't help
you determine what vaccine to use - that's a personal choice and should be
discussed with your veterinarian. Right now, FerVac-D is the only approved
distemper vaccine for ferrets, although many are using Galaxy.
The need for a rabies vax may depend on your locality - if it's required,
you need to get it done. If not, it's your option. Should you decide to
have the rabies done, it might be better to have it done at least 2 wks
apart from when you do the distemper vax.
