Well, I took the plunge. The weekend before last I acquired 3 kits: a Male
DEW w/ black tail (Frosty), a Female chocolate roan (Snickers), and a Female
dark silver (Gypsy). I'm going through all the typical training stuff right
now. I'm currently working on curing Gypsy of biting occasionally (has
drawn blood 3 times now and boy it hurts!). She seems to be getting the
message, but I thought that just before she bit me the third time so I'm
playing it safe with gloves for a while now. It's only been a little over a
week though, so any progress this soon is encouraging. Overall though they
are really great. All the typical craziness you expect from 3 young rascals.
Anyway, the real purpose of this message is that I'm trying to find a local
vet with ferret experience. None of these critters have been
neutered/spayed or descented yet. I want to get this done, but I want to do
my best to find a vet with as much ferret experience as possible. My
current vet says he can do the neutering/spaying, but he doesn't do
descenting. I want to only put them through the trauma once if I get both
done. Does anyone out there have recommendations for a vet in the NE Ohio
area (East suburbs of Cleveland - Mayfield Hts to be exact), or advice on
how to find one? Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
Todd, Frosty, Snickers, and Gypsy
