ferret faces

Hello!

Two weekends ago I met my first ferret. Living in FFZ California, I had to
go out of state to meet them, but it was more than worth it. Having been
lurking on the FML since March, I had an idea of what to do and not to do
when handling a kit. I was VERY mindful of my nose!

I have a question about the ferret face. When you look at a ferret, on each
side of the nose (snout?) is a "bump" next to each eye. Is this a gland or
a duct? If it is neither, does it serve a purpose?

Thanks,
Irinia
