Kitten food until the ferret's about 3, then move to a good cat food. Diet
food for aging cats doesn't have enough protein or fat for most adult
ferrets; only use that if your vet recommends it because your ferret is
overweight or has kidney or other problems.

There's a lot of variation. I know of healthy adult females between
0.75 lb and 3 lb or more (340 g - 1.4 kg), and males from 1.75 lb to
6 lb or more (800 g - 2.75 kg). Depends on genetics, food, exercise,
and age at altering.
