Lily,a 7-month-old albino sprite, came into our lives about 2 months ago.
My mother's neighbor works at a local animal shelter and told my mother
about 5 ferrets that had been abandoned. My mother called and told me about
them, knowing that I wouldn't turn one away, but with two dogs and one cat
already I wasn't jumping at the chance. Finally, she talked me into looking
at one the neighbor had brought home, a year old sable male, I thought he
was cute and lovable but I still wasn't jumping yet. A week had passed and
I found out that all but one had been adopted, so I figured the other one
would get a home soon too. Another week passed but they still had the one.
I soon found out she was albino and the strawberry red eyes scared people,
so noone wanted her. My heart sank and I began telling my husband about it.
He feeling the same as I, that we already had three animals plus saltwater
and freshwater fish tanks, and it would be one more animal to put on me to
feed and pick up after. But he said that we could go and see her, well that
was all we had to do and after she snuggled into my husband's pants pocket
We knew she was going home with us.
Now, here is my little problem. Lily loves the two dogs and plays with them
all the time. Everything has worked out fine and the problems we thought
would occur hasn't. She had been desented before we got her and she no more
trouble to clean up after than the cat. One thing bothers me she really
doesn't want to have much to do with us. I read about how all of you have
loving relationships with your fuzzies but ours doesn't respond to our
loving care. Maybe I'm worring about nothing but I would like some advice
if you have any. Also how long should it take for her to stop nipping.
Thanks for listening
