Hi Gang,
Got a message from someone today saying how much they enjoyed my postings.
That is so good to hear, sometimes I feel silly telling you all the details
of my days, the ferrets problems, the ups and downs, etc.. I have no way of
knowing if you find this stuff interesting and useful or if you use the
'down' button when you see my name. I would love to hear from some of you.
If you have the time, drop me a note to let me know whether you 'like' or
'dislike' hearing of such things. Just so I will know, thanks.
Okay, on to other things. Well I was wrong and I feel so bad now. Poor
Bandit (the boarder) came down with the greenies over the weekend and though
I *know* they feel really bad, he seemed to just be "laying it on extra
thick" that he felt sooooooooooo bad. He had such a pitiful expression.
Well, as I was preparing for bed around 11pm I was making 'the rounds' and
checking the fuzzies as usual one last time and there was RED poop in his
box. His stool was very mucousy with bright red blood in it, well then I
freaked. The "greenies" I can handle, blood I have **never** seen before
with it. I got on the phone to the vet and he told me what to give him to
help make him better. The vet felt that he was really having an especially
hard case of the greenies. Luckily I keep some things on hand. It took
about 45 minutes to prepare his medicine and give it to him and get him and
me settled finally to bed. At 1:30 am I got up to check him again, then at
3:00 am, then at 5:00 am. By morning his poops were green again. I never
thought I would be so happy to see green poops!!!! He is on Meg's Magic
Mush now and is improving, today there was even a little brown in his poop.
Over the weekend he had gotten lots of special cuddling (he LOVES that) and
special atention because he felt so bad. I made sure he drank his Pedialyte
and offered Deliver 2.0, but I don't worry if they don't eat the first day,
because usually if they do they just throw it back up anyway, so I let it go
for a day. I still feel guilty that I thought he was "putting on" about how
bad he felt. Of course, now he will be really spoiled rotten because I am
trying to make up for not 'believing him' over the weekend.
Ally is great, pretty brown poops in her box the last few days. She wants
to play some, or actually, she wants to explore my bedroom for about ten
minutes, then find my bathrobe and curl up for a long nap.
I had a surprise when I got up at 1:30 Monday morning to check on Bandit.
It seems the new group of four that had arrived on Sunday had planned a big
Ferret Party in my livingroom and I walked in and spoiled it for them.
Their previous owners failed to tell me that Snoopy could open the cage
door!! So I walked in to find ferrets rearranging furniture, dancing and
playing loud music, and getting soft drinks and junk food out of the fridge.
We were all pretty surprised when I walked it. Snoopy saw me first and
tried to "make a break for it", Spook jumped up on a bookshelf and tried to
disguise herself, Taz hid under the desk and when I asked him what was going
on, he said that he was really trying to convince the others to go back into
their cage and to be 'good', poor Bear was still asleep in the cage, he must
not have been invited to the party. Needless to say, I 'fixed' the problem
with leash snaps on the cage door, that should take Snoopy a while to figure
out!
Take care,
Kisses to the fuzzballs.
