Lisa,
Bee sting reactions can range from local irritation lasting24 hrs to
anaphlactic shock (vomiting, collapse, respiratory failure). Many times you
don't actually see the bee sting your ferret but notice he/she is irritated
or aggitated. You may also see a red, swollen, painful area. For minor
reactions liquid benadryl pediatric elixor (0.5cc/lb) can help. For
anaphylactic reactions he/she needs veterinary care ASAP. Severe reactions
can occur so fast there may be no time to make it to the vets. For ferrets
who have a history of reactions it is best to have injectable epinephrine on
hand (this can be obtained from the pharmacy with an Rx from your
vaterinarian---its called epi-pen).
Hope you never have to worry about it.
