I would like to thank Scott for his posting on the ferret whitening shampoo.
I called the ferret shop (703-362-4822 for anyone who missed Scott's posting)
and ordered this shampoo and powder alone with their catalog. They informed
me that I can register my ferret and enter him in ferret shows. I didn't
know there were ferret shows! Has anyone on this list had experience with
these shows?
Thanks again Scott. You wouldn't beleave some of the whitening suggestions
that I got. The worst was dipping my ferret (Alvin) in a bucket of diluted
bleach!

Subject: Fleas and Fur Loss
My ferret, Gumby, is about 1.5 years old. Over the last month or so, I
noticed that he was losing some of his fur in a patch around his shoulders
(do ferrets have shoulders?). He does not get any vitamins as others have
mentioned using lately. He does get a bath 2 or 3 times a month. He currently
has a bad case of fleas (my cat has virtually none). Gumby's diet is dry cat
food, various varieties. Though he scratches his fleas, I don't notice him
scratching the affected area.
[This could simply be part of a coat change. Look really closely. Is new
fur coming up? What kind of shampoo are you using? Perhaps a little
linotone would help too. The vet should be able to figger it out...]
I would be curious if anyone else has experienced these problems and/or knows
solutions. I am going to set an appointment with a vet and hopefully he will
know.
