I am scheduling Baby (a 4 or 5yo adopted female sable) for a geriatric exam.
She's a real sensitive and lovey little soul, so I thought she was just
depressed by losing her second home and by being terrorized by Eloise and
Sabine. She checked out okay in a regular exam when I first got her a
couple months ago. I'm sure the vet palpated her spleen.
Now I'm not so sure about her health - in fact, I worry about her. She lost
weight, but she did have her winter fat and coat when she came, besides
being out of shape. But she sleeps more and more. I give her a tablespoon
of Sustacal every day as a treat, but her energy level has only decreased.
Question:
What should her exam include besides the complete blood cell count and the
fasting glucose? X-ray for her heart? Anything else?
Could anyone with experience with middle-aged lady ferts please respond
before Friday?
Many thanks
Judith White
