I just got off the phone with Dr. Rupprecht of CDC and here's what I
found out. They are currently working on the skunk strain and have
about 1000 swabs. All of the ferrets tested have succumbed to the
virus so they are still in the process of establishing a LD50 (lethal
dose 50% of test animals). They hope by the end of the year to have
results and it will take several years to test all of the strains if
the funding and personnel are available. Results will be disseminated
when they are completed per strain. Twenty ferrets have been tested.
Once the testing is completed the data must be analyzed.
