    Irene - that's an interesting observation.  I'll have to look the next
time I see a ferret with adrenal disease.  Now, Dr.  Weiss believes that
hair loss on the feet is very characteristic of adrenal disease - perhaps
hair loss causes the digits to look longer?
 
    To my knowledge, no one has ever looked into this possibility -b tu as
you say, you must be careful when extrapolating across species lines -
especially when dealing with such diverse species....
