I have read sources where ferrets were domesticated by the Egyptians in
6000BC.  I also have a books on Medieval History that list some castles as
having ferret kennels (this is about as far back as the 1100's).  So to
whomever wished to know when was the earliest time that people had ferrets
it was certainly before 1650's:)
