My three ferrets can fall asleep within seconds of me leaving the room
(especially if I have just had them out for a long time!).  But they do
"amuse" themselves with their toys when I am not around (I have heard them
playing at all hours of the day AND night).  I just think ferrets need a lot
of rest ... but they ALWAYS have the energy to get up and play with you
WHENEVER you want!
