I had a lot of trouble with Scooter destroying the edges of my living room
carpet in the new place (right under the barriers I put up to *keep* him in
the living room), until I went out and bought a couple of the metal trim
strips that you put over carpet edges where they meet another floor surface.
Works like a charm.  He still digs, but no damage.
 
To Steve, whose ferrets STOP doing things when they realize they're not
allowed: Are you kidding me?  The FIRST thing Scooter wants to do is
anything he knows he isn't supposed to!  Wanna trade?  :)
